Transition Bed

Molly is officially out of her crib!  Gunnar and I have been discussing when want her to make the move from crib to bed, and we decided that we would purchase her new (and might I say beautiful) bedroom set in June after we get back from our vacation to Dawson Creek.  Unfortunately, Molly had other plans.  She began to attempt to climb out of her crib, and it was really scary to me, b/c there were a few times I would watch her on the monitor and really thought she was going to fall!  Fortunately for us, her crib can convert into a toddler day bed, and even a full size bed.  So until June, we converted Molly's crib into the toddler day bed.  The crib we have (which is only 2 years old) is now discontinued, and I could not find the toddler crib rail conversion kit that goes specifically with the bed anywhere, so I found a "universal crib rail" that works with most cribs.  It doesn't match the dark espresso wood color of her crib, and it also didn't allow us to keep the back side of her crib (which makes it look like a true day bed) either, but for 2 months, it will serve its purpose!
Molly initially did pretty good in the new bed!  It's very low to the ground (it maybe sits a foot off the ground) but Molly was very afraid to get out of it! (She's gets off furniture, and our bed, etc with ease) so I was thrilled she wasn't trying to get out of her bed!  But after day 2, she figured it out, and that's when the adventures began!  ~
Molly is tall enough to reach door handles and open them, so as soon as she figured out how to get out of her bed, she also got out of her room, and I would find her in totally random places in our upstairs!  We have a gate at the top of our stairs, so she couldn't get hurt on them, but we went out this morning and bought another gate for her bedroom doorway, so she is contained! :)  But the madness didn't stop there!  She emptied her dresser drawers, her book baskets, and even carried clothes back into her bed, where she played with them, and tried to put them on!  One of the sections of her dresser is like a cabinet door, and I watched Molly (via the video monitor) open this door, go completely inside the dresser, and then close herself in it!  She thought this was hilarious! (we did too!)
After about 2 hours of playing, she finally got tired, and went back in her bed, scooped up her Minnie, and an arm full of clothes, and passed out!  Her room looked like a bomb went off!  Naturally I had to take pictures of this!
I think the best part of this whole thing was this morning (this was before the new gate was installed in her doorway) I woke up to the sweetest little face, about 5 inches from mine saying "Hi! Hi! Hi!"  It was the best thing ever!!!
Enjoy the pics!

The very weird looking bed!  Gunnar and I refer to it as Molly's ghetto bed!

The little princess snoozing!  This was her first nap in the bed, and before she ever "got out of it"

View #1 of the mess she made during her nap today!  Clothes everywhere!

View #2  - Books everywhere! and also more clothes!

And the little culprit, with Minnie and a bunch of clothes!  She's lucky she's cute! :)
